Ceramic tiles in Mexico: India loses ground as provisional duties kick in
Since 29 September 2026, ceramic floor and wall tiles originating in India pay a provisional anti-dumping duty in Mexico, on top of the 35% tariff they already paid. For Spanish and Italian manufacturers, the question is concrete: who will take over that volume.

What the ruling says
The preliminary ruling was published in Mexico's Official Gazette (DOF) on 28 September 2026 and applies for six months. It covers tariff lines 6907.21.02, 6907.22.02 and 6907.23.02. Duties range from US$ 0.07 per m² for one exporter to US$ 4.31 for those that took part in the investigation and were not selected for individual examination and US$ 10.98 for all others; one was preliminarily exempted.
How much India weighed
According to our analysis of trade records, India sold US$ 46.8 M to Mexico in those lines in 2025, 28.4% of the total, to 107 importers. In 2024, across heading 6907, it had sold US$ 125.5 M. That drop predates the duty; we have not measured its cause.
In 2025, Spain was Mexico's leading supplier, with 31.9% of the value, and Italy the third, with 15.4%.
